Why Should Employers Certify NDT TechniciansThe following is a step-by-step guide to “Why Certify Your NDT Technicians”.  WJMG provides training, consulting web-based exam preps and study guide programs and Level III services to companies that certify their NDT personnel.  Welding codes and standards require NDT to be performed by qualified, trained and certified personnel.

The NDT procedures as described in the welding codes have been used for many years and provide reasonable assurances of weld integrity.  Users of the code may consider each method capable of detecting all unacceptable weld discontinuities.  Users who rely on the welding codes should be familiar with all the limitations of the NDT methods, particularly, the ability to detect and characterize planar discontinuities.  The limitations of each method are described in the Employer’s Written Practice.

Step 1 Written Practice - Employer

Each Company shall prepare and sign-off on a “Written Practice” for qualification and certification of NDT Personnel in accordance with the welding codes.

The Written Practice shall comply with the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Document Recommended Practice SNT-TC-1A Guidelines. The recommended Written Practice shall be accepted and approved by a company official and the Level III.

NDT Level I & II Refresher Training

NDT Level I & Level II Refresher Classes available quarterly at WJMGNDT Level I & II Technician Refresher Training

If you are a  VT, MT, PT or UT, Level I or II,  or if you currently maintain a corporate QMS or personal QMS as a Level I or II Technician, you are required to attend refresher training twice annually to maintain your credits.

You can choose a morning or afternoon session (8:00am - 12:00pm or 1:00pm - 5:00pm), each participant will receive a refresher certificate and 4 credit hours.

The refresher training covers the basics of reporting, inspection and allows for a Q & A session with a Level III.
